An individual who spiked sweets with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
Ruben played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his family member notified the authorities about his concerns.
She explained Ruben continued to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson called the police a second time.
She said the defendant then played the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
